“Unidentified” E3 – Notes/Transcript: You Are Looking At Something That Is A Demonic Presence

Notes and Partial Transcript of Episode 3 of “Unidentified.”

Luis Elizondo

Start out with Luis Elizondo driving in his car in San Diego, talking about the Tic Tac case. There may be a particular area, a “rally point” where some of these things are going. Need to get down to that site and figure out what it going on.

Sean Cahill

Enter Sean Cahill, aka  who was a witness to the 2004 events related to the Tic Tic UFO. He served 20 years in the Navy and was the top security officer on the USS Princeton, which was part of the Carrier Strike Group lead by the USS Nimitz. “Cahill was responsible for law and order aboard the ship and running counter terrorism patrols at sea.”

Elizondo asks when exactly did it begin for Cahill in 2004? Sean says they were told Nimitz had something going on. They had something in their air space. They were getting calls on the bridge to run up on the bridge wing to see if they can see anything. They’d be given an angle and asked if they see anything. A few times they even turned the ship. He recalls saying, “What are we looking for?” And he thinks they were saying, ‘Ahh, the Nimitz has got some strange contacts.’ Cahill adds, “they obviously had something on the radar. They wanted us to see if we could put eyes on it. They didn’t tell us what we were looking for.”

He and one of his lookouts were on the bridge wing and looked up in the sky at a forty-five degree angle. They saw a constellation of lights. They changed position. Some moved inward towards the center. Some moved outward. But all rotating. As it rotated, some of the lights disappeared. And then they were gone. No trail. No effect. There was a light there and then there was no longer a light there. Clear night. Stars were not being occluded by clouds.

“That’s was when I got – as I get the goose bumps right now –  I got really interested in what was going on. What the hell is this?”

If Princeton had it on the radar, why isn’t this on the news every night, that something we don’t understand is present in our atmosphere, coming and going as it pleases with absolute impunity over our military?

Following morning at breakfast, he spoke to Kevin Day and another Chief Petty Officer who was a radar operator. The Chief told Cahill to go look at his email and there was the FLIR video of the Tic Tac. Narrator says Cahill and Day saw a longer version of the infamous Tic Tac video that next morning. (Kevin Day has no recollection of seeing a longer video. He says he saw the same video that’s been made public. ~Joe)

Cahill said that every night they would have an operations and intelligence briefing. He thought they might learn something about what happened. A flying saucer with a little green alien flies across the computer screen and the room erupts in laughter. Captain says we all had a little bit of fun and I guess you guys were chasing something around. That’s over now. Let’s get on with the briefing.

Elizondo suggests that ridicule is a good way of keeping somebody quiet and that’s what may have been going on there. Cahill says that nobody raised an eyebrow and it didn’t seem like anybody even cared. They weren’t told not to talk about it. That seemed to Cahill as a way to delegitimize the experience.

“I got to a point where I pretended like it didn’t happen. Someone tells you something you encountered is not real and that you’re crazy. And you got nowhere to go.

Elizondo and Cahill head to the location where the Tic Tacs may have gone once they left the radar. In Episode 3, we learned that Kevin Day provided the latitude and longitude.

Now in Baja California, Mexico. The coordinates Day provided lead to Guadalupe, a small island. Have these kinds of sightings/encounters continued over the years?

Elizondo couldn’t interview civilian witnesses when he was in AATIP because he had to keep it secret. He says his frustration while in AATIP was that he could only focus on military individuals.

Cahill: “This is the first time you’ve been able to not hide.”

Elizondo: “Right.”

Cahill: “I hate to put it that way but you don’t have to hide behind anything. You can ask the questions now.”

Elizondo: “Right.”

Elizondo and Cahill Arrive in Ensenada, Mexico

Elizondo: “If you have people that are both have trained observers and untrained observers telling you the same thing, there’s a really good possibility that they are both describing a similar event.”

They team up with a Mexican journalist, Jorde Lebrija who says he’s heard stories of unexplained sightings in Baja, California over the years.  Lebrija introduces the guys to a commercial pilot, Adrian Ojeda, who makes his living spotting bluefin tuna for fishermen between the Baja coast and Guadalupe.

Ojeda, who has been flying over these water for eighteen years, says he doesn’t tell many people this story because they’ll think he’s crazy.

Saw a UFO on January 30th, 2015, 23 miles south of Ensenada around 3pm and just 20 miles northeast of where the Nimitz F/A-18 pilots encountered the Tic Tac UFO in 2004.

First it looked like a ball but as he got closer he said it looked more oval.

He made his hands into the shape of what he saw and it was similar to a Tic Tac. No windows or wings. It was smooth and clean and moved erratic. Unlike any airplane he’s ever seen and he sees the F/A-18s training not far from where he flies. Believes the object reacted to his presence. It was ten miles away. And once he put his lights on, it took three seconds for the object to fly past him at an estimated 12,000 mph. It’s noted that this is similar to how the Tic Tac UFO shot off as F/A-18 pilot David Fravor was chasing it.

Talking to various, local fisherman who have seen strange, luminescent objects over the Pacific ocean.

Fisherman describes what he saw

A very strong illuminated light that disappeared in seconds.
Saw a sphere. Silver, round shape, more or less.
Saw a light. Disappeared. Just like that.
Elizondo: “99% of all reported sightings have a rational explanation. Typically, these are things that are manmade or some sort of weather phenomenon or atmospheric anomaly. So, it’s imperative we keep a critical eye on every report.”
Fishermen may not be trained military observers but have similar accounts of spherical objects flying in ways they can’t explain.

UFO dove into the water

Fisherman witness saw something come down and stop. And then it suddenly dove into the water.
More fishermen/witnesses.
Elizondo recounts how fishermen are seeing lights under the water and then coming out of the water. Lights underneath their boat. Things coming out of the sky and floating/hovering above the water.  And then splashing into the water. He’s struck by the similarities to Nimitz incident.

Mention of churning water that pilots first on the scene saw in Nimitz case. And Gary Voorhis talking about how sonar folks on the Princeton said they got a hit under the water.
Trans-medium travel through air, space, water…
Elizondo: “These objects seem to be seen a lot around large bodies of water.”
One witness draws what looks like a Tic Tac-shaped object. Lots of the sightings (According to Cahill, 11 different, unique incidents) occurred at Guadalupe Island.

Kevin Day in Episode 2

Just where Kevin Day told them to look. 150 miles off the Baja coast. Elizondo says it’s, “definitely a hot spot.”

On the (25 hours or so) boat ride over, Cahill says he was in these waters for a numbers of years, on and off from 2004-2007. This is where the U.S. Navy does a great deal of their training on the West Coast.
Elizondo and Cahill describe what different witnesses say they saw. Circular/spherical objects. Lenticular shape. Luminous objects that are  different colors. Objects that flew, hovered and went into the water. And in some cases, objects that came from the deep, up to the surface of the water. Rings of light.
Unidentified Submerged Objects, or USOs, have been reported around the world by civilian and military witnesses for decades. In 1952, military personnel taking part in a large-scale NATO exercise (Operation Mainbrace) off Denmark, reporting seeing strange, round craft flying above and below the water. It made International headlines.
Elizondo says they know there is a geomagnetic anomaly just north of Guadalupe island and it/s significant. He says it’s the only magnetic anomaly within hundreds and hundreds of miles of the island except for the two hotspots just north of the island. Could it have anything to do with the UFOs? We don’t know.
Elizondo. Keep collecting data and search and find the truth. Whatever that truth is.

Bryan Bender says Elizondo was someone who had come into this issue very skeptical and came out of it almost a religious believer, that this stuff is really happening and these are credible reports from pilots and other people that are not wacky. He felt it was his job to try and get more senior leaders in the Pentagon to pay attention to this. And eventually the public, too.

20 hour boat trip to Guadalupe Island. This is where Kevin Day noted as where the Tic Tacs went off of his radar. Access to Guadalupe is strictly controlled by the Mexican government. A foreigners, Elizondo and Cahill can’t set foot on its shores.
Talk to more fisherman who have seen various UFOs.
A circular light that was there for a while and then it suddenly disappeared. Like a shooting star.
A gold or chrome Ball.
A white sphere like an LED light.
People don’t make fun of them when they share their sightings because people have seen strange objects so they take it very seriously.
Now near the magnetic anomaly near the north coast, where most of the sightings have taken place.
Scientific explanation for these strange sightings? Mauricio Hoyos, a marine biologist, says it’s the best place in the world to see great white sharks. They cluster around this area. Visibility in water is more than 100 feet and sometimes you can see more than 33 sharks in one day. Why can they find this island? He thinks maybe because the sharks have a special ability to detect electromagnetic signals which helps them migrate to the island each year.

Mauricio Hoyos

Hoyos spoke to a captain who told him that every time he comes to Guadalupe, he sees that their compass is moving awkward.
Elizondo asks if there is bioluminescence (chemical reaction in sea life that emits light) in the area. Hoyos says, yes, close to the shore. But that does not match what the witnesses are seeing. Very different. Bioluminescence doesn’t appear in circular patterns like witnesses are seeing.
Can fisherman mistake Hoyos’ small submersible (which has navigational lights on it) for a light under the water? Doesn’t think so because if his submersible is there, the big boat also has to be nearby. So the submersible is not isolated. (I’m assuming most witnesses who report the strange lights don’t report them being near a big boat. ~Joe)
Hoyos knows of nothing that can explain what the fisherman are seeing. Elizondo says that in his book, Hoyos being a scientist and a trained observer is as good as it gets.
Hoyos and his captain have seen the same thing and he thought it was a hallucination. In 2006, they tarted tracking great white sharks for 24 hours. At 6am, he saw a little light in the mountain. A little sphere. Thought that it was a star. Suddenly, it moved very quickly. He thought, “Oh my God.” Figured maybe that he hasn’t had enough sleep and was looking at something that wasn’t real. Until his captain asked him if he had seen it. Elizondo asked him if he could actually see an object or just a light. He said it was a very bright object like a perfect sphere. And it took two seconds to move quickly and disappear.

Narrator: “As far back as 2009, the Pacific Ocean off Baja, California was identified by Elizondo’s Pentagon program as part of a global pattern of UFO hotspots.”

So, there is a continuing UFO presence in area.

Elizondo: “The eyewitness testimony from folks from the Nimitz was corroborated by civilians. Between Guadalupe Island and Ensenada, seems to be a real hotspot. When you look at the data, the Nimitz was not an isolated event. In fact, the Nimitz may have just happened to trip over one of these hotspots when they were doing their maneuvers out there. It’s one of the pieces to the puzzle. But we would be remiss if we consider it the whole puzzle. It’s not.”

Cahill: “I dig it why people don’t come forward because it’s isolating. There were 5000 people on Nimitz. How many people saw it and aren’t willing to come forward? I know what I saw even if I don’t know what it is. I know I saw it. It was on tape. It was on radar. That boosts me.
Elizondo: “We don’t have all the answers yet. But we know it’s real.”

Elizondo interview: “This had affected Sean profoundly. He didn’t talk about it much because quite frankly, he thought people were going to look at him like he was crazy.”

Elizondo to Cahill: “Do you know what it’s like to serve your country, to swear an oath of loyalty, only to have someone come out and say, you’re crazy? You know, “f**K you!”
Elizondo: “I’ve spent my life living in the shadows. I put myself out there, voluntarily. So, I’ve got no one to blame but me. I have people who question my credibility at every turn. I want so badly to show people what I’ve seen and what I know. But I can’t, because I have a non-disclosure agreement with the U.S. government. It’s very frustrating for me because, “I know this is real.”

Elizondo: When you look at what they collected in AATIP, you see the same pattern over and over and over again.
Mellon: More people are bringing information and cases to us. Military and civilian. This kind of data and information is beginning to make a difference as we’re bringing it forward. Folks seeing these objects are trying to get people’s attention and tell them we have a genuine issue here and we need to take action. Mellon is delighted that TTSA can assist them in doing that.
Elizondo: “I would much rather put this behind me but the problem is, I’ve seen too much. I’ve talked to too many people. I have too many reports. I know it’s real. I can’t in good conscience just keep my head buried in the sand. I had to leave the very job that I love to get my point across.
When Elizondo was in AATIP, he says there was no way he would have been able to go into a foreign country and start asking questions about UFOs to civilians. There was no way that would have happened.
Elizondo: “AATIP had a small group of allies. But equally, there was a small group of people who were diametrically opposed and became increasingly vocal about their opposition to what we were doing.”

Anonymous Intelligence Officer

Narrator: “This intelligence officer worked closely with Elizondo at the Pentagon and saw first hand the challenges he faced.
Anonymous Intelligence Officer: “When I found out Lue was resigning, I was personally very upset. This is my friend. My co-worker. A mentor. Somebody that I truly believed in.”
Because she continues to work for the DoD, she wants to remain anonymous,
Anonymous Intelligence Officer: “Lue sees things in patterns. And he sees the analytic piece behind putting all of this puzzle together. And what the various outcomes could be. Unfortunately, he had to work through layers of bureaucracy that you would only read about in 1960s Russia. It doesn’t matter what administration it is. It doesn’t matter who’s in charge. It’s just, ‘Oh, this is gonna get very messy, very quickly. I’m gonna, I’m gonna pass it along.’ The government, I believe, doesn’t know what to do. They don’t know how to address this.”
Producer: “Helps us understand, how is it that the people who are
entrusted with some of the most dangerous missions, when they write a report, that that is not taken seriously?”
Anonymous Intelligence Officer: “If you’re pursuing this and very vocal and very public about it, you won’t have a career. And that’s been stated. It’s been proven. There is no question that it’s dangerous.”
Producer: “Are you scared yourself about your own career and your own proximity to this issue?”
Anonymous Intelligence Officer: “Not going to answer that question.”

Bryan Bender: “Some officials that I talked told me that they thought there was resistance in the Pentagon on religious grounds. That effectively you had some senior officers, who were Christians, who thought looking into this kind voodoo stuff was dangerous.”

Elizondo: “I was pulling into the office one day and one of these seniors. The senior looked at me in the eye and said, ‘I want this program to stop.’ And I said, ‘Well, okay. But what’s the rationale?’ And he said, ‘Well, what you are looking at is something that is a demonic presence.'”

Investigative Reporter George Knapp: “There is a faction in the government, high up in the Pentagon, of religious fundamentalists who are concerned that anything paranormal or supernatural, is demonic in origin. That flying saucers represent demons. That if you study this, that you’re inviting The Devil and Satan into your world.”

“You’re telling me to ignore it because it goes against your philosophical belief system. Well that’s the same sh*t I faced in Afghanistan and in the Middle East. There’s no difference. Only you’re wearing a three-piece suit and they’re carrying a Kalashnikov (Soviet assault rifle. ~Joe) So, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.”

Narrator: “Elizondo says his superior’s religious beliefs hindered his mission to get the government to take UFOs seriously. But he and other government insiders, including former presidential advisor, John Podesta, believe the larger political culture is to blame.”
John Podesta: “There’s a natural tendency to just kind of sweep the question away and to avoid the taboo. We’ve created a culture where you really can’t do what any scientist would wanna do. Any skeptic in the best sense of the word, saying, ‘Well, maybe we ought to know about it.'”
Elizondo: “So imagine this for a moment: Your job is to give the boss recommended solutions. Imagine going now to the boss: ‘Sir, we have something. We don’t know what it is. What don’t know how it works. We don’t know who’s behind the wheel. We don’t know what their intentions are. And by the way, there’s not a damn thing we can do about it.”
Narrator: “By 2017, Elizondo had become so concerned that whatever these craft were, the U.S. military had no way to defend itself against their advanced technology. So he tried to send a warning up the chain of command.”
Elizondo: “I realized that none of the information and developments that we had in our program in AATIP was being communicated to the Secretary of Defense.”
Narrator: “Elizondo believed the threat was so great, that it required the attention of then Secretary of Defense, James Mattis.”
Elizondo: “There are five people I can count on this hand that, if they were to call me at four ‘o clock in the morning, I would put my boots on and I’d go to war with them. Secretary Mattis is number one. He is truly one of the greatest Americans I’ve ever had the honor and pleasure to serve with. And for.”
Narrator: “Despite being one of the military’s most experienced counter-intelligence operatives, even fighting alongside Mattis in Afghanistan in the months after 9/11, every attempt at a meeting with the Secretary of Defense, was thwarted.
Elizondo: “This particular case, you had a lot of people that were  worried about their political careers.”
Christopher Mellon: “I attended some meetings that Lue was present at…trying to see how I could be helpful. And this actually led to meetings with these senior people who were very close to General Mattis. And they were very sympathetic. But they did not see a way ahead. They did not see how they could get this by the Praetorian Guard (elite unit in the imperial Roman army ~Joe) around the secretary.”

Elizondo: “This is a man who’s responsible for the safety and security of our country. And if you don’t give him the information he needs, that is ammunition in order for him to make a right decision.”
Mellon: “Despite our best efforts, we were not successful in actually getting this issue in front of the secretary and letting him evaluate the evidence himself.”
Elizondo: “We’ve got a problem internally. We’ve got blinders on. And if we’ve got blinders on baby, you’re gonna get blind-sided.”
